Unit 7
The Smithsonian African American museum opened its doors on September 24, 2016. It is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. The museum has state of the art exhibits to display its collection of more than 36,000 artifacts. Locals in the District-Maryland-Virginia area and tourist have made getting a ticket to visit the museum a hot commodity. Tickets are free and available to the public on the Smithsonian website. Visitors with normal entry pass are not permitted to take pictures or videos of the museum’s exhibitions. They must complete a media request to obtain permission for non-commercial photography or filmmaking.
The Smithsonian museum collection is also available online. The content is organized by topic, date/era, name, object, type, and place. They also offer a search bar to help users narrow down their search. Each collection piece has an image along with a detailed description. The website allows users to share the URL address on their Facebook or Twitter pages. Users can also request to use an image from the museum collection in their publication by simply submitting a Request to Use Collection Images form.
There are digital tours for the Smithsonian African American Museum available online.

Blog is much improved. With your two examples of the digitized images, since the coins are so small, one of the things that you can do, since we are working digitally, is enlarge the image so that the viewer can see detail much better. Also, with small images, it is customary to include a ruler with the image so that the viewer can get a better idea of scale.
