The Virginia Museum of History & Culture was founded in 1831.
It is a place to discover Virginia's rich and unique history. A long-term exhibition entitled The Story of Virginia, An American Experience opened in October 1995. It includes many of VDHR's archaeological holdings, expanding the story to include Virginia's 16,000 years of prehistory. Vistors are welcome to attend an event, explore the museum catalog and research its library. The museum catalog is available online.



The Arlington Historical Society serves to educate the local community about Virginia. The Arlington Historical Museum is the oldest school house in the county. It offers temporary exhibits focused on specific aspects of Arlington County history. People are able to visit the museum to attend events and view its collection. Their collection is also available online.

    Practice on the web is to never write out a URL. You should instead hyperlink the phrase, for example, Arlington Historical Society. You don't really describe what is on the websites of either of these organizations.

The Smithsonian African American museum opened its doors on September 24, 2016. It is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. The museum has state of the art exhibits to display its collection of more than 36,000 artifacts. Locals in the District-Maryland-Virginia area and tourist have made getting a ticket to visit the museum a hot commodity. Tickets are free and available to the public on the Smithsonian website. Visitors with normal entry pass are not permitted to take pictures or videos of the museum’s exhibitions. They must complete a media request to obtain permission for non-commercial photography or filmmaking. The Smithsonian museum collection is also available online. Unit 12 - Data Visualization

Data visualization is the presentation of data in a pictorial or graphical format. It enables users to see analytics presented visually. With interactive visualization, you can use technology that offers more detail with charts and graphs. Which allows users to identify areas that need attention or improvement. Data Visualization Tools Below is an update on the status of my data collection project . Currently, I'm still in the beginning stage of canvassing Old Town Alexandria VA for historical buildings. With the aid of a Google search, I have been able to locate several historical buildings. In addition, I have created an Omeka account to begin uploading photos. Lastly, I designed the page to be visually appealing and easy to navigate.
